What joy and peace to know that my efforts could not achieve for me what Christ did over 2,000 years ago at Golgotha. There have been many times I have tried to focus on perfecting my own efforts, but all I have gotten in return (every time) have been weary, drooping shoulders, weak from carrying burdens that were not made for me to carry. Hadn’t He invited me to cast my cares, worries and anxieties on Him because He cares for me? Hadn’t I read, many times, that we should come to Him, all of us who are weary and heavy-burdened and He will give us rest for His yoke is easy and His burden is light?” Why have I, then, been insistent on being my own burden-bearer? Is it because it looks like I am a better manager of my own affairs? STILL, He has waited and still waits patiently for me to fall on my face (literally and figuratively) until I take my hands off and just REST:-) That day, over 2,000 years ago, He announced, “It is finished!” The work is done! Christ finished the work that day so that you and I will cease striving. Rest, brothers and sisters, rest!
